I’ll never be "too tired" again.
I could kill myself. Honestly. Yesterday, after a long and fabulous day of tubing on the Ohio River, I decided I was "too tired" and it was "too expensive" to go to the final night of Lite Brite Test, where our American Rhapsody was showing. On that final night, we were going to find out whether or not our video made it into the "Best of the Test," and ultimately whether it won any awards. AND John Waters was to present. But because it was $25 and my arms hurt a bit, I said screw it, it’s a popularity contest, there’s no way we got in. And then OF COURSE, just now, on the dawn of this lovely Monday morning, I come into work to check my email (as I have no internet access at home; another lesson learned the hard way) only to discover that we have indeed been selected for Best of the Test, and because of that, ticket prices are reduced to $15, but even better, if we’re receiving an award, it’s FREE.
More later, if I’m not dead already.

DANCE MOTHERFUCKER.
That means you.
Ok so I guess now’s as good a time as any to unveil PROJECTMILL‘s latest venture, Dance_MF (or, for the unedited version, see above).

The first Saturday of every month, we’re going to be taking over the giant back room at Northside Tavern for a dance night/art extravaganza. The first one is next Saturday, Aug. 2. It’s going to be really awesome, complete with sweet sweet music, video productsion, art decor, and the most tragically hip scenesters in Cincinnati. So put on them dancing shoes, motherfucker! Time to cut a rug!

Still no news on the alleged msnbc plug. The numbers still rise on our AmRhap view count, but the only new testament I’ve found is this random blogpost. Which was nice. But I’ve gotten no further than that in my investigation. Anyway.
I recorded some saxophone with Ben of Bad Veins yesterday. I was pretty crappy; I used to be awesome. How is it that when we’re kids we’re phenoms with musical instruments and foreign languages, and within ten years it’s like that part of your life never happened? I used to wail Lisa-Simpson style on my sax in junior high. First seat in jazz band, bitches! But now, I can barely squeak up a C-major scale. And hell if I can read music. But I digress. We had fun and got some possibly usable stuff down. (Though drummer Sebastien will likely veto the whole thing; he hates horns.) The best part is that Ben might be game to be my M. Ward and transform me into the throwback songstress I always wanted to be! When he’s done with his Bad Veins record, I’m to present demos of my 12 best songs and then we’ll work together to make them fabulous. Zooey and Jenny, look out!
And oh yeah. TRACER posted my review of Oneida. I enjoyed this project.

Two bits of news.
One:
My review for Motions is up on TRACER.
Two:
This one’s weird. We’re still trying to get to the bottom of it. But apparently, American Rhapsody, the Obama YouTube video that Pete and I made, played on MSNBC yesterday???? We just checked our comments on the YouTube page yesterday, and all of a sudden there was an onslaught of views and messages, two of which mentioned something like, "Funny stuff. Just saw this on MSNBC." So…. WTF?? I mean, this is certainly awesome, but I want to find the footage! I’m continuing my sleuthing today. More when I have it…

TRACER posted my review of Facts About Funerals. I didn’t really care for them.

Good news! Just found out that Lite Brite Test, a really cool Cincinnati film festival, will be showcasing American Rhapsody, our Emmy-nominated Obama-endorsing YouTube video! And possibly even cooler (no, definitely even cooler) is the news that John Waters has just been announced as the special guest!! Should be fabulous!!

My hometown newspaper, The Doings, posted this little article about my Emmy nod. I’m happy with it! Which is good because I’m usually really nit-picky about journalistic liberties; without a PR rep, those news reporters can make you look like a real idiot if they want to! But this one, luckily, was not so. I only wish she had included the tidbit from our interview when she asked me, "What has kept you going?" and I responded, without hesitation, "Vanity."
