Wow.

It’s been three months since I’ve updated my blog.  That really sucks.  Art imitates life.  More soon.

The Magnificent Return of Toy Band!

image

We changed the batteries and we’re back in business!  Toy Band makes its triumphant return this Friday, April 24, at Southgate House!  So dust off your purple and teal and get ready to party!  Oh!  And we’ll be debuting a brand new song.  Hint?  It’s about a centaur.

Toy Band Mandy Out.

PS—Poster design by the lovely Margaret of the Seedy Seeds.  Just because she’s nice!

He is Risen!

Dance_MF Razzurrection was awesome.  Razzlebear made a miraculous appearance, sporting a razzleberry crown of thorns and carrying an easter basket full of condoms and lube… because someone donated them to Dance_MF and we had no idea what else to do with them.  All I know is every last one of them was gone by the time Razz completed his 3-minute dance with the crowd.  A sinful night indeed!

We also hid 50 DMF Easter eggs in couches, on the bar, in toilet paper rolls in the bathroom, and everywhere in between.  Inside, lucky patrons found candy, prizes, more condoms, and even tickets for free beer!  It was awesome.

Best of Cincinnati!

image

Wow!  This is awesome!  PROJECTMILL/Dance_MF have been awarded a coveted CityBeat Best of Cincinnati title!  We won “Best Way to Keep the Indie Kids Dancing.”  The paper hits newsstands today, but here’s the blurb:

BEST WAY TO KEEP THE INDIE KIDS DANCING: Once upon a time, if you went to an Indie Rock concert and showed dance moves beyond the customary “subtle head nod” you’d be laughed out of the room. Or at least get some serious stares of disapproval. But, with the success of artists like Franz Ferdinand and LCD Soundsystem, it’s apparently now “cool” to bust a move. Recognizing an opening in the market place, local arts and music consortium The Project Mill hatched “Dance_MF,” a monthly dance night on the first Saturday of each month at Northside Tavern. The themed events feature the latest in Indie, Dance and New Wave (and some oldies but goodies) and have become something of a mix between Studio 54, CBGB’s and Andy Warhol’s Factory. Take your too-cool-for-school-out-of-town friends and watch them go, “Where am I?” (dancemf.theprojectmill.com)

This is super cool.  People/Businesses/Events/Restaurants around Cincinnati really milk it when they’re awarded a BOC.  You’ll see plenty of asterisks by appetizers on local menus saying “Best Snack Addiction, Best of Cincinnati, 2003.”  This is a totally legit title that will get more people interested and more bodies on the dancefloor (as if we could fit any more…).  Anyway, congrats to PROJECTMILL.  We are cool people who help cool people do cool things.
